Flag Vandalism

People are allowed to flag posts for being traced, that's not vandalism. That post is also very obviously traced.

Traces are derivative work, not against the upload rules. Provence is right that we can't know the exact reason for flagging for certain, but what is certain is that something being a trace on it's own is an invalid flag reason.

Being against the rules is not the only reason to flag posts. If someone thinks posts that are almost completely traced aren't fit for Danbooru, they're allowed to flag them for being traced. It's not invalid.

That's the same as flagging a post with huge ass.
You still have to explain why you think it doesn't fit. Huge ass on its own isn't a good enough explanation as to why it doesn't fit our quality standards.

Someone who doesn't like how ernest draws people has mass-flagged fourteen of their posts for "low quality":

Two more posts by the same artist have recently gone through the upload queue unsuccessfully, possibly due to the same feeling regarding art style of figures:

These posts are low quality and that is not flag vandalism. I wouldn't have flagged them myself because they're 10+ year old posts, but do note that they were uploaded by a contributor and have never actually gone through the approval process.

The very first one in the list was uploaded less than a week ago, having gone through the approval process and approved, so your statement is already invalid.

The rest of them so far as I can tell predate the approval process, considering the latest one was uploaded in 2014 and the help page for the approval process was first made in 2015. Is it truly the belief of the Moderators that every post uploaded before the approval process was created can be subject to this mass flagging?

I don't know what wiki you're referencing, but about:mod queue has existed since 2009. Danbooru has always had an approval process.

As far as flagging goes, it's actually more or less the opposite. Most people are of the opinion that older posts should be left alone, because standards have risen over time. It's still not against the rules to flag older posts, though, and it's still up to approvers if they want to approve them or not.

All that aside, all of those posts are absolutely low quality by current standards if nothing else, and flagging them for being low quality doesn't constitute vandalism.

Getting an approval doesn't imply anything about the post's quality, it only speaks to the approver (either they liked the post enough, would've uploaded the post themselves or think the post belongs on Danbooru). Bad posts can and do get approved. The flag system exists to check approvers and unrestricted uploaders.

Quality standards will change over the course of 10 years and I also agree that these posts don't fit current quality standards. Older posts not getting flagged is only an implicit agreement by most of the userbase but not a hard rule; they are equally as subject to flagging as anything recently posted. So yes, if someone in passing thinks its low quality, it can be flagged.

Anecdotally, no favour was really done giving these posts attention. They could've "slid under the radar". By uploading more posts matching those incompatible standards and/or asking about them in upload feedback, it prompted someone to check the rest of the posts, determine they were poor quality and flag them.

So it bears repeating, this isn't flag vandalism.
