AI-generated art check thread

Posted under General

Hello, does an image count as AI-assisted if an artist took inspiration from an AI-generated image but they don't use AI themselves ? I know it counts as derivative work but I am curious if that also counts as AI-assisted, thank you.

Apparently this artist https://danbooru.donmai.us/artists/334914 has been making all their stuff with AI assistance. Twitter thread here https://x.com/Duffmox/status/1834238572196446519 and there are some obvious instances like this post https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/6286552?q=masoq where left hand fingers dont line up.

300+ illustrations in a year were a pretty good tip off tbh.

Should we mass tag everything as AI-assisted? I think most of it is danbooru quality and doesnt need flag.

For post #8180815, they posted a making-of on Twitter. I haven't kept up with all the discourse over masoq or all the techniques to spot AI. Not sure if this is sufficient to remove some or all of the ai-assisted or ai-generated tags on their art. post #7837628 and post #7832703 were also recently flagged and deleted because of the AI accusations maybe those could be appealed if he's exonerated (Though the second post is meh to me irregardless of how it was made.).

I wouldn't be shocked. Everything by this artist looks suspect.
post #7779150 and post #7057508 have the typical AI shading. Traced AI, maybe? The lines definitely look weird, but I'm not sure if that's just my personal preference for lineart seeping through.

+1 there's definitely AI involvement in these 4 posts. Looking at the artist's past works, from about post #6574253 and onwards it suddenly looks very AI-y out of nowhere.

To add to the argument: post #6883786
Look at the hands and their linework + rendering. It's a lot less polished than the entire rest of the image as if that was the only hand-drawn thing. Note also the very weird tree through the window. Also why is there a framed photo peaking into the frame on the same table she's reading the book on?

He posted a response to all of this which is pretty damning; claims to just be "bad at hands", but he made a rookie mistake, said that he merged the layers of a photo he sent to a client (which was shown in the thread sparking this) then called it a "WIP" for basically shits and giggles.

Someone also pointed out that he posted two Brazillian Mikus on the same day that still had different coloring, shading, and hair lineart.

i have found an old tracing controversy involving soulnark that already implicated the masoq account as an alt of soulnark
