What about: "for non humans or humanoids, tag only if gender is relevant", to exclude pikachu.
The difference between pikachu and the my little pony characters is that pikachu, and most pokemon, basically act and behave like pets or animals. Pikachu is closer to a cat or dog than it is to the MLP protagonists.

Pikachu actually has discernable gender differences (post #7572556) as do several pokemon. I don't see how the MLP picture has a "relevant" gender and those don't, none of them do.
People looking for 1girl or 1boy aren't looking for animals, they are looking for humanoid beings with humanoid gender signifiers. As stated before though this probably worthy of its own thread if you are looking to propose a difference in how we handle non-humanoids.
if something is a character in the danbooru sense, it probably deserves to get character tags
if i search 1girl and i get a picture of a fucking gastly that the artist says is a girl, im going to flip a fucking table.
the "only bipedal characters count" isnt accurate, the gendercount tags are for common sense girls and boys. if u see centorea yeah thats a centaur girl. if u see mountain yeah thats a furry boy. horses arent girls, no matter if they walk and talk. digimon can talk, that doesnt mean we start tagging every picture of a digimon as a boy or a girl. we've had talking pets before like luna and its never been an issue
im not a fan of Xcreature tags because then you run into issues of again, pokemon. we have the same situation with mecha, but we've never needed Xmecha tags.

and how is it me that gets pinged about putting things in your mouth? Knowledge Seeker just straight up said that you said the exact opposite of what you said. (I probably need to figure something about against factually untrue pointless attacks. They annoy me more than they should. In one hand who tf cares, in the other hand .. just be true.)

And pikachu should be tagged with gender when it is relevant, e.g. a male pikachu surrounded by female pikachus. But probably not when it is just a pet. TBF i don't really use gender tags. Also what if pikachu is consistently tagged with 1boy, and if someone wants to exclude pikachu, just increases the boy counter by 1? For example if someone wants to search for Ash with 0 other boys and 2 girls, they search Ash + 2boys + 2girls if pikachu is present too.

Sorry that was not what I meant to write, I guess I edited it too late. FWIW I agree that pokemon shouldn't have counter tags. A better example would be malphite from league of legends.
I make a specific exemption for the my little pony characters because unlike the other characters you mentioned, they're not talking pets or accessories. If they don't get character tags, it becomes really unintuitive to tag stuff like post #7539148.
I'm also against any process that would require users to have more protracted discussions around what does and does not count as a girl/boy, for reasons that I hope are obvious.
I am losing my mind on figuring out what to call the top that's worn by the girl in post #7815560, partly to have a "white_*" tag to describe its color.
Yes, you could call it a crop top, but only describes how it's cut very short so that the midriff and the underboob are exposed. And unfortunately, there are no color-based subtags, so I can't just settle for calling it "white crop top". It's not a bandeau or a tube top, because it wraps around the upper arms rather than going only around the torso. It's also not an off-shoulder shirt, because it's clearly a single strip of cloth going around the arms, rather than sleeves that happen to be connected to a shoulderless top. You can see that by looking at the lower boundary of the portion connecting the chest part to the arm part; the side of the torso is bare rather than covered by cloth.
https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/7823839 Is there a tag for these balls of light in a pool? I see these all the time in images with pools at night but either they're not tagged, tagged as lamp or tagged as light.
