comment systems....suggestions....great power comes great responsibility....<<<<<<this....what about the stuff I mentioned before??????

I don't see what's the problem, current comment system works fine. Community controls itself, unfairly downvoted comments are usually upvoted back soon enough, and bad comments are downvoted into oblivion in a blink of eye. We're not going to rewrite it from scratch just because you don't like some of your comments getting downvoted, you'll have to come up with better reasoning than that. Before you say "trolls" again, if you were actually targeted by trolls, all of your comments would get downvoted, not just a select few.

I haven't seen the original suggestions, but the comment system could probably use a visual upgrade. Sure, the links work fine and you know that you at least voted on a comment, but there's no visual indicator how bad or how popular a comment is, except that it is hidden via the user-set comment vote threshold. If vote counts were shown though, would that cause up/down vote brigading? We may not know for sure unless we see how such an addition pans out.

Well, I made never a negative experience with showing the actual score of a post and if it reaches a certain treshold, it is even highlighted. Can only help to mark really good posts and bad posts are thrown into hell more or less. Normal posts don't get affected that much, i.e. if they have a score of -1, 0 or +1.

We discussed it before (issue #1702) and came to conclusion we don't need more people trying to be smart or funny in the comments for points, it's bad enough as it is. Though there is a number of userscripts that show comment score, if you're really curious about it.

PG-13 sex scenes

D'Eye said:

That's an oxymoron.

Jame Bond movies... always no higher than PG-13... always have sex scenes. Although nothing graphic is ever shown, the adults all get what is happening/will happen, even if the kiddies don't.

@Type-kun I'm not targeted by trolls...but I know that they are the reason why most of my comments are hidden...and what I'm saying about the comment system is that it should be a little more fair to those who get needlessly downvoted...which is why I suggested that the downvote count for comments to be hidden should be bumped up to 5 downvotes instead of just one...it just doesn't seem fair in general for a comment to be hidden straight away after only one downvote in the first place.

Maybe one should also address the person who had the idea in the first place, too :3.
This always goes ignored and that said: I've no idea who had this idea in the first place :3.

Looking through the discussion we had, Type-kun seems to have resurfaced the idea in forum #124131, so thanks to him too.

Have to say though, that was a very... passionately lit discussion, to say the least. There's probably still more work to do, but it's good to see more needed features. And translating commentary is fairly more straightforward than image text translation, so there's the opportunity for new builders that translate commentary a lot to surface and the like.

I like it. As I said before, it makes Danbooru more unique than other imageboards that we have users that do this sort of translation on a daily basis. Although it's only a handful right now from the user reports, there's definitely space for new users to expand into.

I really don't know if it is me or Danbooru that makes the mistake, but it is really annoying that if use I the bookmarklet for DeviantArt, that I don't get the artist name. Sure, I know all artist names of the artists I follow on DeviantArt, but it is still not good when I can't just click the artist name.
Right now, I'm getting four artist names when using the bookmarklet for dA:

twkr (suguro-m)
nadezhd
moname
aosora (mizore)

and they are not related to any artist I upload from on dA.
The bookmarklet is used when I'm looking at a post like like this:
http://rasbii.deviantart.com/art/nya-or-nah-653611691

Since last night, and restarts of the browser, plus yes, I am logged in, commenting doesn't work.

It goes to a new page that says:

No route matches {:action=>"show", :controller=>"posts", :id=>nil} missing required keys: [:id]

I can't replicate this... have you tried a different browser...?

Sure, I'm using the same browser I've used for the last 3 years, since dumping Fx for becoming Chrome. Icecat, a variant of Fx from the GNU lot. Never a problem until last night ( and all the functions of rest of the site still work perfectly ).

.

So following the suggestion, I tried it in Opera. Same result.

So I installed Chromium, an open-source Chrome like browser, just for this: Same result.

As far as how, I just write a comment and hit submit, worked a 1000 times before.

Thank you both.
