I only recently got back into posting on danbooru after a very long hiatus and I haven't been especially present online the last couple of years, so hopefully I'm not being dense here: I see that a few posts I uploaded just now were flagged for AI (heretikka). They weren't tagged as such on pixiv and I didn't even consider that they could be anyway, so I feel a bit dumb. Is there anything I can look out for so that doesn't happen again?
Honestly not dense. It is getting tricky lately.
Unfortunately AI generators can be very dodgy about being upfront if they use AI either partially or fully which is incredibly annoying. For Heretikka, they at least mentioned that they're an AI "artist" on their Patreon, so for the AIGC creators who are at least somewhat honest and clear about it somewhere, you can check their other links.
There are some other tricks I've learned in detecting AI content that've helped me personally:
- Shading - the one thing AI still screws up a lot. Almost all AIGC has this recognisable sort of poor shading and lighting.
- Recommended tweets - AIGC posts are recommended under AIGC posts most of the time. If the majority of recommends are AIGC, the root post is probably AIGC.
- Who they follow or retweet - feels like AIGC creators have an echochamber to boost each other, 'cause most of them follow and retweet each other.
- Post timing - if they're putting out fully rendered artworks in short time periods succession, treat with caution.
- No processes or too-perfect lineart - problem I had when checking haruyuki_(karem) for a friend and for Danbooru. Processes and WIPs go a long way.
Definitely not foolproof and I wouldn't call myself good at finding these things but I'd like to believe I know a thing or two. Hope that helps.
