They usually did, but albert wasn't fond of those implications (I like them myself) and decided that copyright > copyright implications would only be put in place if a number of major cast members were shared.

We could have a tag above copyright in the hierarchy, like a 'franchise' tagtype, but that'd be a bit of a pain to implement across the board I guess. And I'm personally in favor of keeping tagtypes to a minimum, even if I sort of like this one. Not sure I'd officially recommend it, however.

Eh. His site, his decision.

It'd make things more convenient for me if those implications were allowed, but since I know nothing about coding or bandwidth or whatever else is invovled in making this site work, I don't know whether implications add significantly to server load.

I read a page explaining the Belmondo/Belmont thing in detail some time ago, but I can't find it any more. It was probably in a wiki of some sort, but I don't remember if it was in English or in Japanese.

I think we probably need a better source than a wiki, regardless of what language it's in.

All those are my 'bad' (depends on which all you consider bad), but the Belmondo thing has been present in US releases and remains consistent in Japanese ones. "Belmondo" is French, as is the way in which "Simon" is meant to be pronounced (which leads into a "Simon simon" pun in HoD/CoMS).

As for the most recent application for PS1->PSP in a FFT name, the difference between the PS1 names is a bit iffy on my part, though I wouldn't be surprised if both names have been used in some sort of varied-versions set of releases. I changed the one originally used as a tag to the one in the FF Wikia, then put both in for alias consideration; y'know, to cover bases.

Belmondo certainly doesn't sound French, I looked around and it turns out it's actually Italian. Belmond would be more "french-sounding" but it turns out it's just a town in Iowa, unlike Belmont which is completely French, though I have no idea where Simon and the others are supposed to be from. An interesting thing I found is that Belmont (ベルモント) redirects to Belmondo (ベルモンド) on the japanese Wikipedia so maybe that's how they got used to saying Belmont in Japanese.

I was hoping something from the SotN/[Japanese name's acronym] would have "belmondo" on it, since that likely pre-dates Wikipedia, but this scan also addresses my concern for a hopefully-eventual Traver/Ralph thing. Would his name include the "C." in the middle, should it ever occur here?

Also, I'd like to petition that "peeing" and its aliases be aliased to "urination (which currently has only two images, one of which doesn't show in a search). With the presence of "lactation" and my doubts of a "pooping" tag existing [as a main alias] (for my sake of compulsion, I'll avoid checking), "urination" fits better, and overall sounds less juvenile.

I didn't understand anything in your first paragraph.

I think you're obsessing a bit about consistency in tags. Danbooru has cum instead of semen, thigh_sex instead of intercrural, etc. and yet fellatio instead of blowjob, sex instead of "fucking" and others, and that's okay because Danbooru isn't an encyclopedia, it's a place to find images. If consistency was that important there couldn't be any japanese tags like paizuri or serafuku.

Well, still, "urination" sounds fancy and it matches the "things you squirt out" aspect of lactation.

As for the first paragraph, both scans of official materials and even standing websites have used the "Belmondo" name for the Vampire Killer clan, which I'm taking as the current point of argument on the matter. The other point I was bringing up was that the character known as Trevor Belmont in English is Ralph Belmondo in Japan[ese], with both names (possibly?) adding "C." as a middle initial, and I'm wondering what tags would be set up should an image of the guy ever surface here at Danbooru.

</anal... for now>

evangeline_a_k_mcdowell. Initials are usually included without dots. Characters are known by their original name, so Trevor.

The thing about Belmondo is that, even if it a appears as the official printed name, you can't be sure that it isn't Engrish (or rather, "Flench").
In http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%99%E3%83%AB%E3%83%A2%E3%83%B3%E3%83%88
it looks like Berumonto and Berumondo are treated as synonyms in Japanese, but since I don't know the languange I can't research any further.

That page is redirecting Berumonto to Berumondo, which one could interpret as synonyms or just as easily as "Hey that's a common mistake, you should use 'do'". A matter of opinion I guess.

Me? I don't care about Castlevania so I have no real opinion I guess.

fix'd, as much as Trevor is a cooler name than Ralph (though I have memories associated with each).

As for Belmondo, we ("we" = anyone that cared) though "Gilbart" was a typo of "Gilbert", but the name has been consistently used in official material since at least the FFIVA website. As bad as Konami's localization team can be (have they gotten better at typo-checks?), I think a last name concensus is solid enough that, if that wasn't what they had intended, that's what it is now. Who knows, maybe "Belmondo" came from our English versions of the 'first' game. Similar things have happened to greater degree with [Super] Mario games.

It's not that I care for Castlevania having only finished one (Belmontless) game. Just, even if you don't know much about something, a discussion is always preferable that assuming "this guy knows what he's talking about, let's trust what he says" rather than questioning him.

You say the name would have been changed by now but I doubt it. You see, the consistency you mention might be the defining reason for not changing, maybe Belmont is right but they got so used to Belmondo that it would be strange to change it. It's like Megaman or Resident Evil, they could start publishing the games as Rockman and Biohazard but what would be the point, that's not what fans are used to.

I concede that there are no definite arguments that could prove that Belmont should be preferred and so Belmondo will have to stick. I would have preferred Belmont as much as I prefer castlevania over akumajo_dracula but maybe that's just me.

As with "SUPER SMASH BROS." (yes, ALL-CAPS... damn Japan...), "super_mario_brothers" (and its one standing alias) oughta alias to "super_mario_bros." as per copyright (just looked over a bit of Japan's Virtual Console site; the page text is in Japanese, but the title screens show the "bros." form).

Contemporary is modern clothes instead of ancient/fantasy. Casual is street clothes instead of a uniform. You could have a character in a contemporary uniform and it wouldn't be casual, for instance.

Ah, so would something like post #157903 be considered for the "contemporary" tag?

So, I was trying to tag a Pokemon pic i posted some time ago, and found officer_jenny pics are also tagged with junsa (the Japanese name), and nurse_joy with joi, what should be used/aliased?
