In OTHER unrelated series. Yeah, I think FFTA->FFT makes no sense since the games have absolutely nothing in common besides three words in the title. I can't think of why Game->Game implications could be a good idea unless they are real sequels with enough stuff in common. But those are different from Game->Series.

Same way I'd say Persona->Shin_Megami_Tensei or Persona->Digital_Devil_Saga, or Persona->Raidou_Kuzunoha_Vs_the_Soulless_Army would make no sense since the franchises are already kept well separate (Occidental renaming aside) except for the rare image with all the main characters. Megami_Tensei isn't even a good enough blanket tag to begin with since half the games don't even use that name anyway, and most of the ones released in the west just got "Shin Megami Tensei" pasted on during localization to make them seem closer than they actually are (The Persona games in particular).

The idea of a franchise tage is precisely not to have to search for "Persona_1 persona_2 persona_3 persona_4" if I just want to see all the art for the series, same way you shouldn't need to specify the "Final_Fantasy_Tactics -Final_Fantasy_Tactics_Advance".

In that case, I'll use the following rule for copyright -> copyright implications: only accept if they share most of the major cast.

I've cleaned up the implication list based on the new rule. There are two I'm not sure about: Castlevania and Rockman. How many common characters do the various Castlevania game share?

The Rockman games tend to share Mega Man (Rockman, whatever), as presumably do the side serieses(?). Side characters like Roll and the Doctors (even Gutsman?) also seem recurring.

Castlevania has Alucard in... *counts* at least five titles so far, and the recurring "Belmont"/"Belmondo" seems like enough of a familial tie to qualify. If not those, then certainly Dracula.

And for my qualm: What all might qualify a cast? Only characters? Do bosses count as characters? Might monsters/bosses count for anything?

I realize it's a little late to weigh in but I would still like to see a catchall for series that are directly related through name and/or direct plot but not through cast, so if you know a character is from a series but can't identify the specific game/anime you can at least tag it partway, something like foo_series. This way it doesn't really interfere with each individual game/anime and still solves the problems with the old system.

Q: If a franchise tag is instated, would "final_fantasy_i" be implicated to "final_fantasy" as a matter of accurate titleage?

Oh, right, and speaking of which, is it alright to rename the first game of a series into {name}_1 if they have the same name as the series?

Yeah, totally. I think it would make sense, as soon as a {name}_2 appears, to add a {name}_1 tag to all the ones that already have the {name} tag. If you know what I mean.

I notice some Magic Knight Rayearth alias tags in the queue right now to have it changed to "mahou_kishi_rayearth". However, this is incorrect. The original Japanese title has the first two words in kanji, but the kanji is actually read in this case with the English meaning. See the Japanese Wikipedia entry for one example: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%AD%94%E6%B3%95%E9%A8%8E%E5%A3%AB%E3%83%AC%E3%82%A4%E3%82%A2%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B9 So, "Magic Knight Rayearth" is actually the correct original title.

This should be the other way around in my opinion. We don't tag breasts as boobs or jugs or something either, so it seems really inconsistent to me.

pussy also refers to the vulva area though. spread_vagina wouldn't make any sense.

Anyway, to be somewhat on-topic, what about matters of Japanese names that are officially, by an artist's (toward self) or publisher's (toward creation(s) Romaji-nations, spelled different than presented on Danbooru, yet the non-endorsed Romaji is the one more people seem to know. Does Danbooru have a policy of using a particular system (namely, double-vowels), and if so, can it be overridden by official instances otherwise?

I think the preferred system is using "ou", "oo" and "uu" (depending how it would be written in kana) for long vowels, as that is the simplest way to distinguish them in Danbooru tags. And it tends to be used even when the official spelling is otherwise (for instance, "Fuuko" in Clannad is officially spelled "Fuko").

Yes, correct romanization is supposed to be used at Danbooru regardless of how "official" the Japanese try to make their mistakes =P

No, but it can be aliased. That's why tohsaka_rin aliases to toosaka_rin.

To bring up a now-unrelated but pressing-to-my-mind nonetheless matter, I do not know how to go about asking for the tina_branford -> terra_branford alias to be dissolved in favor of its reverse, and the only method offered to me is restricted by my account status (and, really, I wouldn't expect it a light decision to give _me_ any particular privelages, given my track record).

I guess I can do it, but only if someone decides whether we want to annoy everyone by aliasing all the Phoenix Wright names back to Japanese.

Is there a good source for "Lock Cole" not having an e? The e in Locke is silent, so this is not a name change.
