Type character:xxx in the tag box to change tag xxx to a chartag. Copyright:xxx and general:xxx work the same.
Has it always worked like that? I always edited attributes through the tag listing, and that seems like something the average dumb user (i.e. me apparently) will never figure out on their own.

Tbh I learned that from reading the forum I think.

Yes, those prefixes have always worked.
I never knew there was any other way to change them. If there was some way of doing on the tag listing that would have been more convenient for me, but I never found one.
Edit:
jjj14 said: I've been trying to change Touhou back to copyright, and neither copy: or copyright: prefixes are doing it.
I can't change it back either. I have no idea why just one tag would be acting up though. Every other tag I've tried can be changed and changed back without issue.
Edit 2: Oh, I fixed it. I changed it to an artist tag successfully, and from there I could change it to a copyright. Weird.

I'm being serious by the way.
If there's something specific you don't like, say what it is. A lot of things are being fixed to be more convenient, and Albert might include your suggestions if you do.
"I don't like change, so change everything back to how it was" isn't a very good suggestion though, and it probably isn't going to happen.
Edit:
jjj14 said: I'm echoing the call for reimplementing comment search by user.
jjj14 said: On my end copytags:0 is a lot of posts with properly tagtyped copyrights, such as post #1363067.
That post only has general tags. Tags such as tales of (series)should be copyright tags, but they were broken during that short period with the bug. I fixed them, you should do the same if you find any more.
This post turned quite a bit longer than I though it would be so I'll address important things first. You can safely ignore its second part if you are only interested in on-topic discussion of bugs, features and other technical details.
Username definitely should not be changeable. Not by users below Mod lever at least. This was discussed many times in the past and every time we reached the same conclusion - this is a bad idea and it will bring a lot of problems to everyone who is maintaining this site(Janitors, Mods, Contributors, etc). Albert already agreed to disallow it in the past*, so we just need to remind him all that. Or convince him again, though this will probably require multiple Mods voicing their opinion yet another time.
To everyone saying that this version is poor and that everything has changed to the worse: Yes, thousand times yes. You are completely correct. Danbooru is currently broken and almost unusable. But sadly we can't do anything about it. Not directly at least. This is not the first time Albert (unintentionally) breaks the site, many of us have "been there and seen that". Only difference is that this time problems are much larger than they were in the past.
I too would love to see the old version back but this probably won't happen. And raging or mourning is not productive. It won't change anything. But that doesn't mean that this place is doomed. We just need to keep submitting bug reports, point out things that are worse than they were and (politely) bug Albert to fix/change them. Even if not everything, most problems can and, with enough support, will be fixed. Either help improving this new Danbooru, because I'm afraid we are stuck with it, or just leave and return after a few weeks.

Really? Because on my end it looks like this: http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/620/copytags.png And no, that's not just since you changed it just now. Although it does stop appearing in copytags:0 since you changed it, but others such as post #1362949, post #1362925, and post #1362946 still come up in that search and apparently have correctly typed tags. So I guess we now can't trust that the tags are typed correctly even if we see them under "Copyright" in purple. (Or at least that's how it appears on my end)
Not sure if these have been posted yet, but I have a few 'issues': 1.) Text in text boxes (like the tag box and the reply/comment box on the forum (and I'm guessing the comment box on image posts) is entirely too small; looks like it's 8pt or so, should be bigger, I think. 2.) on the image page, where the time since an image was uploaded is, it has 'ago' written twice, ex: 'Date: 17 days ago ago'. 3.) The favicon seems to be gone.

Thank you for saying this. I couldn't say it better myself.
On my end it looked like everything was general before fixing it. I'm pretty sure they actually were general as it was showing up on copytags:0 searches. So you seeing them that way may have been something on your end.
Can you provide another example of a post that looks like it has colored tags yet shows up on a xtags:0 search?
And strangely, that post's sol_(tvtjk7ubec) tag should be an artist one (I changed it back to one), but now it looks like a general one again. The other tags stayed the color I left them at, though. I tried changing it to artist again, but it's not working now. Lovely...
Edit: I managed to change sol_(tvtjk7ubec) to an artist by changing it to character, then to artist. I wonder if it will stick this time.
Are there any other tags that aren't changing color like that? So far we have that and the touhou tag.

Personally, just off the top of my head: - page buttons at the bottom are needlessly huge - can't see how many pages a tag has or go to the last one right away - bigger sized font looks really ugly and eats vertical space - tag separation is useless since we had the colors already, and contributes to wasting vertical space - huge white space on the right when browsing posts - can't see "Favorited by" anymore - can no longer open the picture by itself by clicking on the image size (though I guess this wasn't intended) While I don't really care about them, Profile page does look ugly, and I can understand people complaining about new Favorite Posts limits.
In short, Danbooru had an elegant, simple and intuitive UI, this doesn't.
To top it all off, it's frustrating that during these days of "updating" Danbooru is pretty much unusable not because of bug fixing/improving/whatever, but because of changes that were never needed.
And "I don't like change, so change everything back to how it was" actually is a good suggestion; you don't just change stuff for the heck of it. A jumps, B shoots. B jumps, A shoots isn't wrong by itself, but since everyone is used to the opposite, well, it's bad.
You're working hard, we know it. But I don't see anyone truly welcoming this, instead I see many are already looking for an alternative. I'll be damn surprised if all this does as much as not hurt the website.
Daveskyshard said: - page buttons at the bottom are needlessly huge - bigger sized font looks really ugly and eats vertical space - huge white space on the right when browsing posts
I haven't found these to be a problem at all.
Daveskyshard said: - can't see how many pages a tag has or go to the last one right away
Yes you can. But only on searches below a certain limit. I think it probably excludes this for searches that return more than 1000 pages because you can't search past page 1000 in the first place.
Daveskyshard said: - can't see "Favorited by" anymore
This would be convenient to have back.
Daveskyshard said: - tag separation is useless since we had the colors already, and contributes to wasting vertical space
I think the tag ordering itself is good, but the huge headers between them are unnecessary.
Daveskyshard said: - can no longer open the picture by itself by clicking on the image size (though I guess this wasn't intended)
Yes you can. On post #1363067 I can click "275 KB" and be brought to the full image page. That's what you meant, right?
I know that Albert has the best intentions, but he's created a bit of a mess. People are uploading a lot less. If this keeps up for long, the site will die. Is he really willing to risk that? I'm not trying to threaten people here; I'm just concerned.
P.S. I would also like to be able to access the list of pools in one click again.
Regarding name changes: I think they should be possible, but should require the approval of an admin or at least mod. would probably approve them in most cases. Barring that, name change history should be visible to admins or mods. Yes, even if they have no negative feedback.
To jxh2154: How about the subcriptions? It stills the existing subscriptions still broken although new ones seem to work. Does this have to do with the new upgrade system?
Also, will the new upgrade system affect the functionalities available to members already in the upper levels (Privs, Builders, and Contributors)?
Unfortunately I will not be of much help for programming questions. My job here as admin is strictly forum and user management, such as approving aliases/implications, banning spammers and trolls, that kind of thing. I am not involved in the development of the site, and in fact a lot of you here know a lot more about Danbooru 2 than I do (I never had the time to check out the beta site in any detail, unfortunately, but that's my own fault). I also only very rarely talk to Albert, not for any sinister reasons, but simply because I can do my job pretty much autonomously while he focuses on development. I only really mail him when some modding function is broken.
So I'm a bit out of the loop on many of the changes, sorry.
