I'll get used to it as I do all website changes but I wish the commentary was in a dropdown menu on the tagging page. People who don't give a shit will ignore it and people like me who try to tag or TL all their commentary won't forget to do one step or both like I have been recently.

Yeah that's one of the big jarring things for me is the commentary being moved.
One annoying thing I've noticed with the new upload page is that if you (accidentally or otherwise) press tab (so that it selects the Submit button) when in the tag box, pressing e won't return you to it like it used to do.
I'm starting to see now the disadvantage of these collapsible sections taking up too much negative space that could be used for other collapsible sections when adjusting the size of the image.
edit: And add the ratings parts just not being very noticeable compared to before. I keep missing them.
I'm not sure why there's so much negative feedback about the new upload page.
Probably doesn't mean much coming from not a particularly prolific uploader like me, but I for one really like the new upload page. I used to have to open the image in a new tab and Alt+Tab back and forth constantly in order to tag it.
Some things like how related tags are treated can still be improved upon and probably should, but it's still not worse than the old page in any significant way IMO.

People can have differing opinions about stuff. I don't like it because of the reasons stated before, I also don't like it because it was, to my knowledge, deployed without much (if any) feedback from long time Danbooru users. It basically changes things that have been more or less unchanged since Danbooru was created for negligable/negative gain.

That feels to me like it's pretty much the only reason people dislike it, the natural resistance to change.
When I posted my previous comment, I hadn't even realized that you don't have to collapse and uncollapse the related tags section to get to the related tags list. You just click on the tag in the tags box and then at the tag name in the related tags section and they all appear. It's literally the same number of clicks as before.
We probably all need some time to figure out how little things like that work and get used to the change, but once we do, I'm guessing we won't even think about ever going back to the old page.
I don't mind it too much, even if I prefer the old page. I think it just needs a couple tweaks to make it a little more intuitive and helpful to the user.

if the change is pointless and redundant and proves to improve nothing by switching collapsable boxes with tabs then it's simply a waste of time & resources, and just like the changes that happened to youtube, I'm never accepting this as a change that ever needed to be made, and that will not change any time soon, I'll use it because I have no choice to, understand that if there were a choice to switch back to the original layout I'd do so in a heartbeat.

and the fact you went through the extra effort of opening another tab for help when tagging, instead of scrolling up & down to see the pic which is literally on the same page as where the tags are, is simply a fault of your own making, you made it harder for yourself, the wheel on the mouse requires much less effort than constantly pressing two keys + scrolling on both tabs.

exactly, a change that had no rhyme or reason, just change for the sake of it, hell, might as well add a hanging disco ball every time you enter the upload page, that'd be more beneficial, at least then people can boogie while uploading, don't forget the subwoofer speakers at the sides and strobe lights in the corners.
another fault of this layout that I've realized in the last few days after using it a few times is that I need to constantly open and collapse the related tags box every time I wish to find related tags to a different tag, where's before, by the single click of a button the related tags box would refresh and show tags for the tag highlighted.
You literally replied to the post explaining that you don't have to do that a week ago.
evazion said: The related tags function the same way as before. Before you clicked on a tag to select it, then clicked a button to show the tags. Now you click on a tag to select it, then click the "Related" box to show the tags. It's the same action. You don't have to collapse/uncollapse the whole box, you can just click the tag name next to "Related:" to update the tags.

Using keyboard only is much faster than having to constantly move your hand to the mouse to scroll and then back to the keyboard to type. I'd recommend you try it out, but now, thanks to the new upload page, you don't have to! Yay!
Speaking of changes that serve no practical purpose though, does anyone else besides me miss the old iconic cat girl post counter? Not really an important feature, but evazion's time and effort permitting, it'd be pretty nice to bring it back.

or I could just use my two hands to scroll and type at the same time, plus switching tabs that fast would just welcome a headache.

except nothing's changed, I still need to scroll up and down with this new layout.
and when the boxes are to the side instead of below, the image is forced into a smaller resolution and I can't expand it to its max, thus forcing me to open the image in a new tab in order to see its full resolution, also making the choice of having the boxes below instead of to the side the most beneficial docking, which is pretty much the same as before but now with tabs instead of collapsable boxes
now, on top of constantly switching tabs so I can see the pic's full resolution, I now have to alternate through tabs constantly instead of just expanding & collapsing boxes, the change has literally introduced more problems than it's fixed.

To be honest even the old layout forced the vast majority of highres images into something smaller than their max size, the max size of the image on the new layout with theside by side areas is very often enough to tag correctly, unless it's one of those wide images with many many elements in it that are so small that even with the old layout, you would still need to open the max size image in a new tab anyway. Any layout that lets you see the tag board and the image at the same time will have this effect of limiting the max size of the image you can see. Not saying there isnt room for improvement on the new layout but even if im not the most frantic uploader i generally prefer the new one over the old one, i don't miss it at all.

forum #236266 helps with this, it's way better than opening the image in a new tab IMO.

Thanks, i missed this one, gonna check it out, though i don't often come across the type of image that needs this the most without it being already uploaded here

yes but the old layout had more room for the image to expand in because there was nothing taking up space to the right or left, now with absurdres images I NEED to open a new tab because of how small the pic's resolution is forced into, this just makes the docking change redundant because the most beneficial docking is with everything at the bottom instead of the sides so the pic has more space to expand in.

using wide images is a poor example as to why the new layout is better, your monitor itself would need to be wide af in order for images like those to be fully expanded with the full pic displayed on the screen in full resolution, a fault like that can't be fixed in any way by any means online, that's an external issue.

I would at least like the option to revert back to the old layout instead of being stuck with this new one, if that could be made an option in advanced settings that'd be very nice, Evazion, that way you'd please both parties.

You can still choose how the stuff is placed, set it adequately depending on aspect ratio (the board on bottom is better for images of wide aspect ratio while side-board is better for the inverse), and again, vast majority of cases the space the current layout gives you is enough to see everything you need to see at decent size, all without needing to constantly scroll back and forth, or without having to constantly move the tag edit board because of how it covers part of the image.

Sorry, by "wide image" i meant those absurdres, landscape format pieces that have a lot of content and elements in it that you can't possibly decipher correctly even if you set the image to fit your whole browser window or screen; stuff like post #6050390 or worse Those are the only cases that i can see needing more screen space than what's given on the new layout

I'd rather not have to constantly alternate between docks based on the pic's shape or resolution, putting the scroll wheel to good use shouldn't be seen as so much of a problem to where it warrants a change that fixes nothing and brings more problems instead of improving anything.
as for the tag edit board, nothing's changed, it was a collapsable board before, just like how it is now, which just further pushes how redundant the change is, such a waste of time & resources for what was pretty much flawless and only ever needed minor improvements, not changed.

Saying the old layout was "flawless" is quite presumptuous Also the point i'm trying to make is that the new layout actually doesnt bring much trouble, while saving me a good chunk of it and being more pleasant to use (as well as being just straight superior from a strict web-design perspective, despite not being perfect) The way you find switching tabs annoying is how annoying i found it to have to scroll back and forth just to see what to tag, and i still can't see what poses so much problem in having slightly less screen space occupied by the image, like i genuinely want to understand how do you need More zoom on images that arent like the example i gave, or is it that you upload from a device with a relatively small screen? in which case i'd understand, but if you are uploading from even a standard size laptop (which i'm using), the screen space is very much enough for the average upload. Also just tried the script from forum #236266 and you'd like it, it would definitely help with whatever it is that gives you issue, it's even better than i thought
