Artist tagging help

Posted under General

I'm 95% sure that the artist "panimajor", who is credited as the author of post #328969, is not actually the author.

Proof:
Several pictures posted on their deviantArt account are stolen from other artists; for example, they posted this picture on their dA and even claim in the description to have drawn it, but the picture is actually post #467321, which was published a few months earlier on pixiv by artist "shino satoru". Similarly, this picture from their dA account (where she also claims to have drawn it) is actually a repost of this picture from pixiv published by artist "meio" over a year prior.

As for post #328969: I have not been able to identify the original artist. iqdb returns nothing except for reposts from danbooru. However, while "panimajor" originally uploaded that picture to dA on Dec 3, 2009, the picture existed online at least as early as Nov 2008. As proof: searching for the hash of this particular picture in the 4chan archives returns posts from as early as 2008.

Given these circumstances, I find it highly likely that "panimajor" is not the author of post #328969. What should be usually done in such a situation? Would I be justified in removing the artist tag and commentary?

morishima_hitoshi

Artist is Taiwanese, but his name here is translated to Japanese. I just want to make sure the existing name is correct.

仁森島司

is the artist's name.

Looks right if you rearrange the hieroglyphs.
森島 Morishima モリシマ | japanese
仁 | chinese & 司 | chinese > 仁司 Hitoshi
It is difficult to say if this is a mistake, or if the Chinese characters should be taken into account separately. Strange spelling.

So why not simply use vanirus as the tag? You did that anyway (before posting here)?

I had deleted it since it had an autocorrect to a different name so I wanted to ensure there was no conflict with the existing names.
