A vertical bar accessory which facilitates a shooter's two-handed grip on a submachine gun or rifle (typically but not exclusively an assault rifle). It is found toward the front of the weapon somewhere beneath the barrel, e.g. hanging from the forestock.
Occasionally, as on the Ingram MAC-11 machine pistol, the foregrip is merely a leather strap rather than a solid bar.
