Offering to the Gods
Porcini, morel mushroom, chanterelle. Oh, and of course truffles. We Romans really loved mushroom dishes. Though for some reason, the Celts seemed to believe mushrooms had evil powers or something... Well, I won't deny it, since there were a good number of people who keeled over from eating poison mushrooms. But hey, with a little trial and error, we Romans learned how to distinguish the poisonous from the edible mushrooms.
Huh? Why do I call my mushroom dishes sacred food offerings? Well, you know that's just what you call a Roman Nero joke...
"My father became a god after he consumed mushrooms, you know."
HAHAHAHAHA!
