Sweat trickling down one's face is the best type of boon to bring about a smile. It's especially pleasing when the fruits of your labor end up satisfying someone else's stomach.
The sense of accomplishment you feel as your harvest weighs heavily in your hands, the stinging pain your skin feels from the sunlight, and the smell of the soil that clings to you...all is a kind of gratuitous joy that differs from the battlefield.
