Like Water, Like Flowers
Like water.
Let the anger that rages through you flow away freely, magnanimously, and gracefully...like flowing water.
Like flowers.
Let your thoughts return to your distant hometown, conjuring radiant and cheerful feelings...like a flower blooming in the field.
Parents who were separated from their daughter, and the daughter who was separated from her parents. The two sentiments which had nowhere to meet in this land.
One, enraged by its circumstance. The other, saddened by its state. Each pitied the other, and then their souls joined. They did so to aid one another, if they were comforting each other. The two souls united, as they were, in harmony and order.
"In this way, Komahime shall be Rikyu, and Rikyu shall be Komahime."
Think of this chashaku, this bamboo tea scoop, as Rikyu and this tea caddy as Komahime. We've put our gratitude to you, who accepted us as we are, into this session of tea.
...Like Water, Like Flowers.
