赤色の魔剣は、戦いの中で半ばから折れて、
今や大地に横たわっている。

剣を折ったのは誰あろう、この自分であった。
大魔術師マーリンの術が施された槍を振るい、
見事、赤い騎士の魔剣を折ってみせたのだ。

かの大魔術師は言っていた。
赤い騎士とは厄災の魔、概念の具現であるのだと。
ならば自分は……
ブリテンに押し寄せんとする災いを打ち払えたのか？
災いの、すべてを？

―――返答はない。
静寂が、災いは尽きぬと告げているかのようだ。
若きガレスは、ただ、折れた魔剣を見下ろしながら
佇むのみであった。

The sword that once belonged to the Red Knight... This red mystic blade broke in half during battle, and now lies shattered upon the earth.

She should know; she was the one who broke it. Using a lance that had been enchanted by the great mage Merlin, she expertly evaded the Red Knights' defenses and smote his mystic sword, cleaving it in two.

According to Merlin, the Red Knight was a physical incarnation of evil and disaster. If that's true...does that mean she saved Britain from a looming threat? That she triumphed over calamity?

...There was no response. As though the silence itself speaks to the endless catastrophes that have yet to come. The young Gareth peers down at the mystic blade lying broken at her feet, completely silent.
