While Kazuma was a shut-in, he would always fight with his father, and unable to watch them for any longer, his mother proposed that he live by himself. Since his mother believed the reason Kazuma became a recluse was because he failed to enter the school he originally wanted to go to and didn't want to attend his backup school, she decided that they would rent a cheaper, furnished property closer to home rather than one closer to the school. The rent is covered by the money saved from his absence from school.
