This is more me wondering why the images were deleted really. It says: Unapproved in three days
What does this mean exactly? I really would like to know what was wrong with these pictures so I don't make the same mistake in the future.
Images from users below the Contributor status need to be approved, and there is a group of about 30 people whose job it is go through these images and choose which ones to approve. After 3 days, if none of those people have approved the image, it is deleted.
For your images, the quality is rather low and they are full of jpeg artifacts, which is probably the main reason they were not approved.

It means that 2 admins, 10 mods, and 19 janitors were given three days to review your image, and none of them liked it enough to greenlight it. Doesn't necessarily mean it's an objectively bad image, but we gotta have some standards around here - so we have a small team of (currently 31) people whose taste is trusted, that's all. Some of us don't have all that much time to go through the queue, so there might be really borderline cases where the only one or two people who might have approved it didn't happen to see it. That's what this thread is for.
That said, your images are nowhere near borderline, they're awful. Extreme artifacting and bad art in both cases.

Iunno what the general view on this sorta thing is, but I thought I'd suggest it as it's not badly rated. It's a bit dark but there are other things of similar nature under the dark tag. Thank you ahead of time~

That's bad art? I thought it held the same quality as the rest of that artists work -- which in itself holds a higher standard than many images I've seen posted and approved. I would have uploaded some in better quality if I knew where to find the artist website. Anyway thank you for replying.

Ugh, yes, it is bad art. And "I couldn't find a non-shitty copy" doesn't mean you should go ahead uploading crap, it means you shouldn't post anything.

I don't know about those pictures either, but please don't judge the quality of your uploads based on how much better they are compared to horrible pictures. It should be the opposite, where you judge your uploads by comparing them to extremely good artwork.

There's a difference between good art in a style you don't like, and shitty art.
Your images would have been almost vaguely acceptable (if someone was feeling really generous) if they hadn't been artifacted to hell and back, but as it stands they were both mediocre at best art, and really shittily compressed.
tl;dr get the fuck over it.
Is it appropriate to appeal deletion of someone else's post? If not, then disregard the rest of this post.
The following from the "Black Lagoon: Bikini Edition" pool appeared to have dropped off after the usual 5 days, but the scores were climbing. I couldn't see a reason why they wouldn't have been approved other than hard translations, but I may have missed something.

I don't see anything wrong with it, plus it's the uploader's own work (he's japanese).
We don't actually care so much about the ethnicity of the author, as long as the art is good. OTOH, self-uploads are frowned upon, the policy is that you're supposed to publish in some dedicated place and let others upload if it's worth it.
And re: that pic, it isn't thrilling, and I hate huge breasts, so not approving it.
