A tag for characters not usually dressed as maids

Well, it's pretty much what it says on tin. And like the kemonomimi_mode tag, I think this is something worth describing, since I see it fairly often.

Not quite sure what tag name should be used, but maid_mode as a first stab strikes my fancy.

Thoughts?

But given the conclusion of that thread -- while I would like if it was feasible to separate actual maids from people simply dressed as maids -- I think just using a single tag here is the best solution.

That doesn't mean we can't do it, the massive prevalence of it is a mark in its favor. But I see there he's coming from.

Apart from the fact that I'm very biased towards maids, yes, the high maid tag-count -- compared to all of the other possible things a character could dress-up as -- is one of the reasons I think this would be a good tag.

I guess. It's always easy to undo if we change our mind.

We *do* have maid_outfit but given the prevalence of real maids in images a distinction isn't a bad idea. alternate_costume maid_outfit should in theory get close but maybe not enough. Same logic as bespectacled and kemonomimi_mode.

I'm not sure I fully follow the alternate_costume maid_outfit suggestion, since maid_outfit was aliased to maid during forum #23139. So your suggestion is actually a alternate_costume maid search, which does pull up 2 pages of stuff.

I've recently been thinking that we need to flip that alias to emphasize that maid is for the outfit, and not the person's job.

I was wondering the same thing - and that's actually a pretty good point.

We actually have a similar situation with Santa and santa_costume. Unlike this situation though we could potentially have Santa the character visually identifiable in a post without his suit. A maid without her outfit is not really a visually taggable concept.

EDIT: Actually I guess Santa Claus is the character tag, wheras Santa is aliased to his costume; to make things a bit more confusing.

Oh, and provided that we're still okay with using the tag, we'd probably want an 'enmaided -> maid' implication as well.

Well, if you ask me, I think enmaided works best, since it's a more elegant term than maid_mode - and maids are generally considered elegant themselves.

It just sort of... works.

Nobody aside from 葉月 and the viewers of this particular thread are going to know to search for enmaided. It's a made-up word. Maid outfit on the otherhand is a straightforward tag.
