scarlet macaw
Latin: Ara macao
JP: コンゴウインコ (kongō-inko)
A large red, yellow, and blue macaw with a particularly long tail. This parrot is mostly bright scarlet red, with large yellow wing patches, mostly blue wings and rump, and large white facial markings. The upper beak mandible is pale above and black below and the lower beak is black, leading to an impression that there is a black stripe dividing the beak from the face.
This parrot is native to Central and South America.
Not to be confused with red-and-green macaw.
