Isshiki Makoto is a guy with tanned skin, blue eyes and big eyebrows. Like every male student in his class (with a bit of an exception for Togashi), he wears a regular schoolboy uniform. He started out having brown hair during the start of the first season, but ends up getting his head shaved off due to his girl-ranking notebook getting accidentally discovered by one of his peers. However, he's still able to keep a flattop no matter what things would go wrong with him. During the first episode of Ren, Makoto has half-blond and spiky Gokuesque hair along with his unbuttoned coat as he tries to look cool in front of the girls, but gets off shaved off again not because of the same reasoning from Episode 6, but that's because it broke school's regulations. His skin gets much darker in the finale of Ren, but then gets back to normal (but still keeps the flattop) as of Take on Me.

Makoto is Togashi Yuuta's first friend from highschool whose favorite hobby is profiling most of his female peers from his class. In the anime, he seems to fall in love with Tsuyuri Kumin after the latter found his bald
