Uta-garuta is a Japanese card game played using karuta cards. The game consists in 100 pairs of cards each associated with a classical poem, each composed of a yomifuda and torifuda. The yomifuda contains the full text of the poem, while the torifuda contains only the last phrase.
During the game, the torifuda cards are laid on the ground. On each round, the reader will read the poem from the yomifuda, and the players must try to find the corresponding torifuda card as quickly as possible. The player who collects the most torifuda cards wins.
Torifuda cards typically have a green border, and 14 letters of the poem laid on a grid (see: post #1431356)
The manga Chihayafuru is focused on players of uta-garuta.
