The SVT-40 is a World War II-era Soviet semi-automatic rifle chambered in 7.62×54mmR, designed by Sergei Simonov.
Different from its predecessor, the SVT-38, it is visually recognizable by having a pair of perforated metal heat shields that appear longer, covering both gas piston assembly on top and the barrel portion. A cleaning rod can also be stored underneath the barrel.
