Super Robot (スーパーロボット Sūpā Robotto) is an old genre of anime focused on giant robotmecha with various super powers, special and flashy weapons, and the cliche of attack/special move naming.
It originated from Tetsujin 28-Gou from the 1950s/1960s and the Mazinger Z series created by Nagai Gou in the early 1970s. While not as popular as it was during its beginnings, it still continues to this day.
