In Egyptian mythology, Set is the fox-headed* god of the desert, storms and foreigners, later reinterpreted as a god of evil, dark magic, and darkness.
Set is usually depicted as a villain is several myths and an arch-nemesis of Horus. His antics were used to explain various phenomena within ancient Egyptian culture, such as his killing of Osiris that became the origin story of mummification.
*He is sometimes depicted with the head of an aardvark or an unknown 'Set animal' instead.
