Myouren Temple (or Myourenji, named after Hijiri Byakuren's brother and fellow monk, Hijiri Myouren) is a Buddhist shrine and residence of the Myouren Temple Clan, led by Headmistress Hijiri Byakuren and her followers who believe in her ideal of peace between youkai and humans through the teachings of Buddhism. In addition to her followers, there are some other youkai that live there.
This temple was established after events of Undefined Fantastic Object, in which Palanquin Ship landed near Human Village with help from local goddess Moriya Suwako and Kochiya Sanae. Since it was converted from the Palanquin Ship, the temple retains the ability to transform into the flying vessel and vice versa.
Now, Myouren Temple serves as a Buddhist temple for both humans and youkai, in accordance with Byakuren's ideal of harmony between humans and youkai. However, while harmless youkai such as Kasodani Kyouko are welcomed, other youkai who tried to join with unsound intentions (such as attacking human visitors) are turned away.
Most humans view Myouren Temple in a positive light, with no small thanks to Toramaru Shou's blessing of luck for wealth. Still, some people are still wary of Myouren Temple for its ideology and partial youkai membership.
In Ten Desires, it was revealed that Myouren Temple had another purpose - sealing the Divine Spirit Mausoleum.
In Symposium of Post-Mysticism, it was revealed that most of Myouren Temple's members are doing unsanctioned activities in secret, such as eating meat and drinking sake, much to Byakuren's dismay.
