メリーランド(艦これ) メリーランド(艦隊これくしょん) メリーランド Maryland Maryland(艦これ) Maryland(艦隊これくしょん)
Kantai Collection's personification of the US Navy battleship USS Maryland (BB-46).
Character design by Parsley-F.
In-game, she is portrayed with long blonde hair and blue eyes, and a well endowed yet petite body, much like her sister Colorado. She wears a yardarm headgear, a two-tone grey dress with blue accents and a sleeveless white shirt that superficially appears strapless, a blue necktie with her hull number (46) on it, black gloves, black thighhighs held by garter straps, a grey capelet, and high-heeled rudder footwear.
Her rigging is the same as that of her sister's, with all four of her historic 406 mm twin gun mounts, two of her 127 mm open pedestal mounts, a smokestack, and her real-life cage mast with a range clock. Her first remodel swaps her range clock for an SK radar mounted atop the mast.
In real life, Maryland was moored inboard of the Oklahoma at Pearl Harbor on the day of the attack and largely escaped damage while Oklahoma capsized from the bomb and torpedo damage sustained. Several of Oklahoma's sailors assisted Maryland's crew in the attack while Maryland's crew assisted in rescue efforts aboard Oklahoma.
She was among the first battleships from the attack to reenter active service, sortieing with the other available units during the battle of Midway as a standby force.
She participated in shore bombardment duties in the battles of Tarawa and Saipan before seeing action in the battle of Leyte Gulf against Nishimura's fleet. Later on, she sustained kamikaze damage on the same day as Operation Ten-go (which also explains her being the reward for Spring 2022 E-5, which is based off Ten-Go), which put her out of action for the rest of the conflict. She was decommissioned in 1947 and scrapped 12 years later.
