Upgraded version of the Destiny Gundam that appears in Gundam SEED Freedom movie. Shinn Asuka remains as its pilot.
It mostly resembles the original Destiny except that the Spec II's color scheme is darker, the light blue colors on the original's chest as well as the color of its "Arondight" anti-ship sword are both replaced with white, and the v-fin is now grey-colored instead of yellow. The new color scheme is quite similar to that of the Legend Gundam, which is piloted by the late Rey Za Burrel. In-universe, this is Shinn's tribute to his fallen friend and comrade.
The Destiny Spec II retains the original's weapons though its systems gained several upgrades. It has improved Variable Phase Shift Armor (which is the reason of its modified color scheme), it is now equipped with Deuterion Beam Energy Transfer System for recharging battery-powered mobile suits which are equipped with a Deuterion Beam receiver such as the Impulse Gundam Spec II, and its signature Wings of Light is also enhanced. It is now capable of producing more realistic, clone-like afterimages that is also more abundant in quantity than the original, enabling the Destiny Spec II to cause greater confusion to its enemies in combat.
Additionally, the Destiny Gundam Spec II has a new inner frame capable of improved performance, which glows red at maximum power output.
