A recurring Ryuu ga Gotoku character that debuted in Ryuu ga Gotoku 4 and returns in Ryuu ga Gotoku 5 as a playable protagonist. He is moneylender nicknamed "The Lifeline of Kamurocho". He originally was a banker until he became homeless due to being framed for a money embezzlement scheme. However, the events of Ryuu ga Gotoku 1 where the explosion of the Millennium Tower scattered large amounts of yen allowed Akiyama to invest his money to build a fortune.
Akiyama generally has a very laidback, unprofessional and disorganised personality, much to the chagrin of his secretary. He soon becomes a very close ally to Kiryu Kazuma, even helping his adoptive daughter Sawamura Haruka investigate and traverse across the dangerous idol industry in Osaka. His fighting style revolves around sharp, rapid and swift kicks.
