In the game's storyline, Akagi is portrayed as Kaga's older half sister and close partner. She displays a violent personality and is infamously yandere for the Commander. In the anime, her obsession turns towardsKaga instead. In both cases, however, she is traumatized by the loss of her elder sister Amagi and is determined to resurrect her from the dead by any means she can, including the use of Siren technology. This leads to her and Kaga becoming the de facto leaders of the Sakura Empire and their war against the nations of the Azur Lane alliance.
