Complete or partial absence of skin and hair pigment due to an absence or defect of an enzyme needed for the production of melanin. Due to this, people and animals appear very light-skinned and typically have red eyes because while there is no pigment in the irises, the blood vessels can still be seen. This does not disqualify blue eyes, however, as most people with ocular albinism have blue eyes that bear a slight red tint due to the blood vessel still present.
