Edit
The escort ship Tsushima, the seventh of the Etorofu-class of coastal defense ships, as depicted in Kantai Collection.
Character design by Akasaka Yuzu, voiced by Imamura Ayaka (initial) and Seto Asami (after Imamura's retirement).
Appearance
Tsushima has hair that transitions from purple to orange near the tips, cut short at the back, but kept long side at the front past her shoulders. She has purple tareme eyes. She wears a serafuku similar to Etorofu's: an elementary school serafuku with prominent buttons, with a hat bearing a blue ribbon, light blue neckerchief, white gloves, and blue pleated skirt. She differs from Etorofu by wearing a shirt with puffy short sleeves and black thighhighs.
Her rigging is similar to Etorofu's. It involves a pistol-like single-cannon turret held in her right hand. A mast and smokestack are carried on her back by straps like a backpack, while depth charge launchers are held like a purse from another strap. An anti-air gun is strapped to her right thigh, and more depth charges are strapped to her left.
Personality
As a coastal defense ship, her class is even smaller than destroyers, and as such, she is portrayed as an "elementary school student" character, even younger than the generally "middle school" appearances of the destroyers. Tsushima comes off as having a cool personality, even looking tired from her official CG. This has some artists to portray her as somewhat stimulated by anything sexual or explicit and/or willing to do anything titillating to the viewer or to the Admiral.
History
The historical IJN Tsushima was launched on March 20, 1943, completed in August 15 of the same year, and had an unremarkable service history escorting ships. She survived World War II and was later ceded on July 31, 1947 to the Republic of China (Taiwan) Navy, where she was reclassified as a frigate and renamed ROCS Lin An (臨安), hull number PF-77. The renamed ex-Tsushima then participated in the Chinese Civil War, being part of a Taiwanese fleet that intercepted gunboats belonging to the People's Liberation Army Navy (the People's Republic of China's own navy) attacking from Pinghai Bay on March 11, 1954. The group of Taiwanese ships damaged one of the attacking gunboats, forcing the Chinese group to retreat. Lin An was later decommissioned in 1957 and scrapped in 1963.
Trivia
She is named after Tsushima Island at the Korea Strait between South Korea and Japan. The island is also known as Daemado (대마도) as Changwon City, South Korea lays claim to the island, but not South Korea itself.
