Studio Ghibli is an iconic Japanese animation studio that has produced many successful films over the years.
Founded by Miyazaki Hayao, Suzuki Toshio, Takahata Isao (1935-2018), and Tokuma Yasuyoshi (1921-2000), this core group of collaborators has overseen the direction and production of much of the studio's creative output. Other notable staff include Anno Hideaki, Kousaka Kitarou, Andou Masashi, Yamashita Akihiko, Futaki Makiko (1958-2016), and Yoshida Ken'ichi.
Following the retirement of Miyazaki in 2014, Studio Ghibli temporarily halted all production of feature-length works until 2017, with the announcement of Miyazaki's return to direct the film How Do You Live?, which released in 2023.
