The Stahlhelm (lit. "steel helmet") was a combat helmet used by Germany during World War I and World War II. It replaced the Pickelhaube used during World War I.
Other countries have used Stahlhelme at one time or another, including the Argentine Army, the Chinese Nationalist Army, Hungary, Ireland until 1940, Spain, Switzerland, and the Yugoslav People's Army until 1959. The helmets are also used by the Bolivian Army, the Chilean Army (in ceremonial services), and other militaries in some countries.
The shape of American PASGT helmet bears slight resemblance to the Stahlhelm.
