The main ritual associated with Setsubun is mamemaki where roasted soybeans are thrown out the front door or at a someone wearing an oni mask while shouting 'Onis out! Luck in!' before slamming the door. Then, as part of bringing luck in, it's customary to eat roasted soybeans, one for each year of one's life plus one more to bring good luck for the year.
