刀で切り開く血塗られた道。その上を何ひとつ不満もなく歩いてきた。無論、そこに笑顔など求めるわけもなかった。

「へえ、そんなの買うのか。いいな、女の子を笑顔にしてこそだからな」

まっすぐな想いは時に棘となり、人を変える。返礼の為に菓子を買うなど、帯への誓いと同程度に滑稽に思える。だが、それを幸福と思える自分も悪くはない。

I walked it without a second thought, that path carved deep with a sword, stained red with blood. I was never one for ‘the pursuit of happiness.’
“You're buying that are you? Well that’s sure to put a smile on a little girl’s face.”
Sometimes earnest words pierce like thorns and end up changing people. Buying sweets as a thank you gift--it’s as laughable as any grand proclamation. But the way I've been thinking lately...maybe I've become more acquainted with happiness than I thought.
