ということで、昨日の4コマの冒頭は「食べられませんでした」と書くのが正解です。
最初からそう書いちゃうと、食べられるようになったのわかっちゃうので、ああ書きました。

So, the correct grammar in the first panel of yesterday's 4koma should be "I couldn't eat", not "I can't eat".
If I wrote that from the beginning, you'd knew that I can eat it now, so I didn't.
