Roughly 300 years ago, the shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune had fireworks launched at the Sumida River in Tokyo to dispel evil spirits and memorialize those who died of the famine and cholera outbreak the previous year on this day!The fireworks season is still a ways off..But I hope we get to see some beautiful fireworks this year too!Plop
