This is painted using ref found over at ~GentlemansClubStock.

Alright so this was meant to be some quick color practice. I said, "you got 3 hours, go!" and was all excited about trying a looser style and all that. Instead we get my typical "tweak 'till it's dead" style and well, I went over the 3 hours.

Anyway, the idea behind this exercise was to use a black&white image as a reference so that I would have to work the color in myself. Furthermore, my technique as of late has been to paint form in grayscale first, then add color. Here, I built the color up from the start. More work but I think better results.
