Artist's commentary
Thank you Mr. Hajime Isayama
The story of Attack on Titan finally came to an end.
It was a great journey.
This is a collage with some of the Attack on Titan artworks that I made throughout the years of reading this story.
In these 11 years and 7 months reading his story, I've grown so much as a person.
Through the experiences of his characters, Mr.Isayama described to me, teached me, gave me answers and helped me in his way. He made me realize so many things that exist in our world and understand a deeper meaning of life, he helped me understand and find my own true self.
He was there when I've been through hardships, he was there when I was in need.
Whenever I read a chapter, he was always there for me, he spoke to me in his way and gave me the courage to continue on. He was there when nobody else was and he “spoke” to me the words I needed to “hear”. This is how I kept moving forward.
He evoked to me so many emotions and made everything overflow in me.
I saw and created new worlds in my mind and through these overflowing emotions, I expressed everything in any way possible though words and art. On each artwork that I created and the words that I wrote for this story, there's a part of me.
I created each artwork with love and with a feeling that everything once existed.
From Reiner's portrait, to the hope of mankind Armin, to the mysterious Eren Kruger, to the courageous Scouts and Warriors, to Colt's heartbreaking expression as he holds little Udo, to Erwin's beautiful sad gaze, to Mikasa's tenderness, to Eren's courageous words on keep moving forward and to the smiley Group photo, all these and every other single artwork I made.. it was and still is a way of self expression and a way of healing from my experiences in life.
Mr. Isayama made me understand the values in life, to see the beauty in simplicity, how we can bond with people around the world, how precious are some moments and having memories of them, to not forget those who departed and how we can still keep them alive by remembering and honoring them, even if they are not here with us, their light will always shine in this world. He inspired me and I was able to inspire others too. This is the meaning of magic, the beauty in life, to feel emotions, to be able to create and share, to be able to get inspired and inspire others.
I feel lucky that I lived in the same decade as this story was being created.
It was a really fun journey, awaiting with such intensity each month for a new chapter to see what was going to happen next, getting mind blown while reading and then trying to write down all these thoughts and emotions that were overflowing in my mind, to a chapter or character analysis. I will really miss all these.
Everything that this story made me feel, will stay forever in my heart, as it became a big part in my life.
From here on, I continue my journey even stronger and I will always keep moving forward.
Thank you Mr.Hajime Isayama, for teaching me how to live.
