Celestial Garfield, The Truth
"Liz, I feel weird" Jon understated. She lay on the ground, pupils dilated and staring at the blank ceiling in awe. So this was her idea of 'trying something new,' he thought, dazedly. She was unresponsive, lost in her own world at this point. "At least I have you, Garfield." he carressed the cat in his lap, fur flowing like a river and orange coat a vibrant fire -- the hallucinogens at work.
.
"I wonder what you think about." Jon mused. "Do you even understand me? Do… I understand me? …Who am I? What am I? What is reality?"
.
Jon was unprepared for this existential train of thought. His mind began to race too fast to vocalize. Mouth agape, he looked to Garfield for some semblance of comfort, but Garfield's pupils began to morph and melt away. What stared back were two glowing eyes. They grew brighter and brighter, until the entire room was flooded with an intense blinding white, numbing Jon's body until he shut his gaze… and then silence.
.
Jon opened his eyes. He found himself among a million, billion stars illuminating the expanse before him. He felt the stardust in his atoms calling towards the vast infinite above, filling him with a sense of miniscule insignificance that brought him to tears. His watery sight traced the galaxies above until he turned and met the stare of two glowing eyes set above a keen grin.
.
"Garfield…" Jon whispered. He was a celestial beast, stars evaporating like mist from his arched back. Then, a voice. It came from everywhere, within Jon and around him, trembling his soul with vibrato as he spoke: "Do you seek truth, Jon?"
