约稿图,原画师是Dzsi: user/43703656, 其中val(不是角色,枪)则是SAWKM画的:user/25602174
Commissioned work from Dzsi: user/43703656 with val (the gun, not the character) drawn by SAWKM: https://www.pixiv.net/en/users/25602174. Also special thanks to a certain helvegan in a certain discord channel
Look, believe it or not, the artwork was commissioned on the 20th so before the entire shitshow. Who would have thought a fan art for a historical event somehow turned into an artwork for a contemporary military event. Well, let's just say I wish all sides involved in this shitshow can come to a peaceful ending with the least amount of bloodshed possible。
Russia's (and soviet's) military operations at the end of the 20th century have a very unique vibe to them. Br it in Afgan, Chechenya or perhaps even those rounds that went off at the walls of the White House back in '93. Tired soldiers, barely uniform equipment, the lostness within the population. That longing for freedom crushed by the reality of cold nights with barely any heating that they can afford. And- you could say it's an anger and remorse, but I think a better way to put it is the feeling of closing your eyes before the storm, and living by every peaceful second until everything comes crashing down. I would say this is the first real uniquely Russian culture for the new Russian Federation, just like the uniquely PRC culture created when workers found out that the nationalised industries no longer need them (and industries no longer nationalised too) in China back in the 80s, but I digress.
"Hello sister, my dearest, how are you?
The roads at home must be covered by the snowstorms
Stars are falling in Grozny's sky
Just don tell mom I'm in Chechnya"
