Railgun vSS1 C7 026 Colored
Original character design by Kiyotaka Haimura and original art by Motoi Fukuyawa from Toaru Kagaku no Railgun Light Novel SS 1.
I do not claim this artwork as my own.
Lore:
Now for something completely different but mostly the same, a Toaru Kagaku no Railgun Light Novel Illustration.
The illustration is taken from the 7th chapter of the first Toaru Kagaku no Railgun Side Story Novel Volume, bundled with the 7th ''Toaru Majutsu no Index'' BD/DVD release.
The scene features Mikoto saving Kuroko and herself from falling into the ocean by recalculating her computations (Personal Reality), allowing her to use her powers to induce hydrolisis on the water vapor of the ocean, and using it to power herself through the air. Sort of a hydrogen thrusters thing, using her electric powers.
This is not an awakening. As only Accelerator and Takine Keikoku can awaken.
About the work:
Done on my own, after getting severely ill several days prior. I was reluctant to do this, as I had no idea what to fill the background.
It was black on the original illustration and was used to highlight Mikoto having wings and saving Kuroko like an angel. The scene is supposed to occur during the day, which would of course overpower the glowing of the wings if it were used instead.
As such this would be the 5th iteration of my coloring of the illustration, being unsure what to do.
In the end I decided to give it a ambiguous and mystical feel to it. The scene occurs in the sea, with Mikoto catching Kuroko and waves interspersed in front of them (as seen in the illustration). Therefore I just used my usual techniques in creating a starry sky, though applied it on non-black background, a sea. Here, the sea is partially covered by these stars, though which makes no sense unless what would assume that the stars are just reflections and are the bubbles and brine of the sea.
Yeah.
See you next time.
