Artist's commentary

Here's a deep question for you, naf-kun. Please elaborate and digress if you want to, of course. As a fellow drawer, I know that by looking at an artist's work, you can know a lot about him/her. And I noticed you draw gondola a lot. ...Do you draw it a lot because you see yourself in this being? Do you feel more like an observer in this world, watching silently as things unfold, relaxed, smiling and talking little? Do you embrace the Taoist principle of wu-wei as you accept the world how it is?
To answer this question, first we must ask if Gondola is what it is by choice, or lack of it. A little bit of both I’d say. Upon rigorous visual inspection, we can see that Gondola doesn’t have any upper limb. The evolutionary significance of this is unknown as of now. Research has shown that Gondola compensates by having impressive flexibility in its lower limbs. However, since Gondola uses its lower limbs for both locomotion and manipulation, if Gondola wishes to interact with its environment, it must stop. Every moment of its life, Gondola must chooses between being a prisoner of space, or to move and forgo its interplay with the world.
In many cultural and religious depictions, higher beings possess many arms. This symbolizes their divine powers, as many arms do what two arms cannot. So, what is it then when our Gondola is depicted without any? Is it a pitiable creature? Instead of being masters of their domains like the gods, is Gondola forever imprisoned by the whims of its surroundings? Are we? Gondola shows us another aspect of the duality of man. We are in-middlers. Between the gods and Gondola, we have the power to influence and change our world, and we have the power to observe and accept it. Not only do all of us have Gondola in ourselves, we have gods in ourselves as well.
Irony is in play every time this creature is drawn. For the world of the canvas is limitless, yet depicted in it is a soul bounded by the very nature of its being. Some say that the Gondola’s love for walking is because it is on a search. What is it, O noble Gondola? What do you seek? Where are you going? Can you tell us?
And says, the Gondola: “fugg :DD”.
