Armchair Artist
If only I could keep getting ideas just from sitting around at home.

From blog post:
An idea I came up with while writing the post for the last drawing.
Memo: 'The Result of Visible Encounters' »
From the bit about going out now and then to keep the artistic juices flowing, I thought, "Still, being all out and about in this day and age... I wish I could just stay inside and have the ideas for new drawings come to me." That made me think of an an "armchair detective," someone who uses only the accounts from clients and readily-available information to figure out a case instead of actually going to the scene personally, and I thought how nice it would be to be an armchair artist, someone who just stays at home and uses the internet to keep getting new ideas to draw. That's the aspiration that went into this drawing.
• Does anyone actually need this stock material?
The image being shown on the PC ont he right is an old drawing of mine, slightly edited and reused. Pretty nifty trick, I have to say. I've thought before about how much of a pain it is when you want to have a TV or a magazine in your art and you have to draw the screen or the cover or whatever. It's something you can get hung up on, and it doesn't have much to do with the main idea either. I'm sure there's people who look to see if there isn't a little gag or something snuck in there so maybe it's worth getting particular about it if you want to, but it's hard to find the balance.
I've also wondered if there would be interest from people if I came up with fictional variaty show screencaps or fictional magazine covers and distributed them as free stock material. Wouldn't it be nice if different people's art showed the same image on TV and felt sort of connected by that? I don't know.
