I don't bear a grudge, but I was never able to settle this matter. I guess you could call it a feeling that my spirit didn't belong to myself anymore. That's why I could only answer your apologies, your truly devoted love, with a shallow smile. The only way I could feel alive was through decadence and aesthetics much like an imaginary landscape.
The wicked hermit who passes through holes trying to fill up the hole in heart, not succeeding in over a thousand years... laughable, isn't it? Managing to fill it would mean starting from the beginning, as the human I was before I met you.
I think I love you. The reason I came here was because I still want to meet you. Because the instant that we met again, your celestial light would grind me to dust, down to my very soul. I have the feeling that if I could just embrace it with all my strength, I would finally return to zero. Assemble a love and happiness with no falsehoods.
However, I now have a better idea. This girl here is Yoshika. When faced with the earlier question of which of us is the craziest, I answer with her.
This girl, back when she was alive, really had a strong spirit. She betrayed the woman calling herself her mother, destroyed her family... and even though she knew it was a wicked hermit's trap, for the sake of revenge, she made herself my tool. She even submitted to becoming a wife for her enemy – that is, my present master.
But that's not the really crazy part of her. Her only blood relative was her little sister from a different mother. Pitying the situation that sister got herself into, she carried that pity not only through her life, but even beyond death. She let herself be killed by her little sister's hand, and despite retaining her self, for a thousand years she played the part of a puppet so well I didn't even realize. She never balked at consuming any man or monster I told her to.
At the moment, I think I've managed to make her into an actual puppet. At least she hasn't been talking anymore.
To that Yoshika, I granted the ability to eat anything and store souls within herself. Do you know what it means to "eat anything"? It wasn't that I wanted to make her eat stones and trees.
There is only one thing youkai cannot eat. Or rather, something that's a life-threatening poison to them. It's the flesh of a celestial. I created this girl, who can eat even a celestial with her already-dead body.
Humans, youkai, spirits, souls, she can eat them all and turn them into one. Within her body, she holds a single spirit, yet also all those she's eaten. Because of that, the likes of souls and thoughts all meld into one disarray, and she can only manage very simple responses, but... I can see a future for her.
I won't visit here anymore, but please, from today to tomorrow and beyond, don't forget our meeting place, the place we have in common. I look forward to the day that we meet again.
When that time comes, I'll throw away the past, and we'll truly be together.
