Hang in There, Kogasa-san 1931
I tell you, the Kariya Parking Area's a dangerous place!
Although it's got a parking area attached, the jointly established facilities are incredibly complete. It's got a food court, a hot spring facility, and even a Ferris wheel! You can have a better time there than at some lesser service areas.
We ended up killing quite a bit of time here!
Service areas, as the name implies, are rest areas that offer necessary services for drivers and vehicles—parking spaces for rest stops, eateries, fuel pumps, toilets, etc. However, depending on usage situations, some service areas come without restaurants or without gas pumps. Parking areas, in contrast, are mainly for just parking. That is, they're more like pure rest stops—places to park and rest off fatigue or tension. All parking areas have toilets, but presence of shops or fuel pumps is a lot more uncertain. Some, like the one at Kariya, are very full service indeed, so the differentiation can get complex.
