“Operation Desert Sword”~End of War
With the success of “Operation Desert Storm” only the Capital of Riyadh remains to be recaptured. The general of the multinational task force announces “Operation Desert Sword,” which aims to use all available military assets to finally liberate the United Kingdom of Jazeera.
As the task force advances, they are hit by hundreds of projectiles. However, information from analysis of the wreckage and action by Witch units reduces damage and casualties. However, stubborn resistance by the Neuroi succeeds in halting the advance within sight of the capital. Following operations to weaken the steadfast defending assets (“weapons”), ground forces successfully penetrate the city limits on March 1st. Two days later, a massive fortress-type Neuroi appears, forcing ground forces to temporarily withdraw. They advance again with Witch support. An all-out attack with the support of all nation’s Witch units succeeds in destroying the fortress Neuroi. The nest vanishes. On March 3, the Gulf Neuroi War concludes.February 24, 1991: “Operation Desert Sword” begins. The allied task force advances on Riyadh.
February 25, 1991: A large number of are launched at the task force surrounding Riyadh. Most are shot down before impact and damage is minor.
February 28, 1991: The task force arrives at the outskirts of the fortified Riyadh. However, the strength of the defensive assets (“weapons”) forces a temporary withdrawal.
March 1, 1991: Before sunrise, the chain of command orders a bombing raid against one of the defensive Neuroi. The Neuroi is successfully destroyed. However, a Witch is shot down by anti-aircraft fire. The subsequent search and rescue operation successfully recovers the Witch while suffering 2 Delta Force members KIA.
On the same day, under orders from command to penetrate the outer defensive line, ground forces manage to enter the capital. However, around noon a large, fortress-type Neuroi appears, Unable cause significant damage to the Neuroi and suffering widespread damage, the ground forces retreat.
March 2, 1991: A planned general assault supported by every nation’s Witch units begins at daybreak. However, the attacks failed to damage the Neuroi’s outer shell. Replenishing the Witch units for another attack takes until after noon to complete. Witches from the assault team then manage to neutralize the Neuroi’s offensive weapons, allowing ground forces to flood the city. Combined air and ground fire gradually wears down the fortress-type Neuroi until it collapses. The nest in the sky above Riyadh vanishes.
March 3, 1991: The Arabian Peninsula is completely liberated and the government of the United Kingdom of Jazeera restored. The end of the war was officially declared.
