Next-Generation Morgue
It was in the basement of a university hospital equipped with a morgue. It was as bright as a semiconductor factory and the corpse storage facility was installed in a room with a large floor. It differed from other facilities in its preservation of the corpses by shining a special kind of lighting on them, as well as by circulating cold air. Apparently this facility could preserve corpses for as long as other morgues without freezing them. All tasks were performed from the terminal inside the room and an automatic log is kept when corpses are brought in or taken out of the morgue. It was impossible to sneak away with a corpse without somebody noticing because of the security cameras both inside the room and in the corridors.
At least, that seemed to be the case until one day all of the corpses, nearly two hundred of them, vanished from the storage area in a single night. Nothing showed up on the logs or security cameras and nobody had seen anything. All that remained was the strange mucus they found in the morgue. It was still unclear what this mucus was but could it have been that the corpses had melted away?
