I think we need some mod assistance with flags?

To prosecute abuse of the flag system at least mods need to be able to see them, I doubt the admins have much time to spare for this. Maybe janitors as well, since they usually take care of the mod queue.

Well, nothing ever came about from the last discussion, but it's still something that needs to be done. This was the first sequential instance of flag misuse I've noticed, and there's no way for the janitors and mods to tell who did it to stop. The need is still there.

I find it strange that the system was changed solely due to Anelaid complaining, to the chagrin of everybody else who needed to know flagger identities for instances like this.

At the very least this needs to be visible to Janitor or up, if not also made available to contributors.

1) Wrong, if you read the thread carefully, you'd see that hiding flag identity from members is an old topic.

2) Don't find it strange, accept that that's just how danbooru works (and community software projects in general).

Nothing happens until albert/the devs chance across an issue (in this case, either by reading the forums or someone pokes him hard enough) when he/they have the time/effort/ability to fix it. If the fix needs fixing, you'll need to wait for him/them again.

Anelaid was only the first one to bring up that people were harassing flaggers, and the change only went through in another thread, when albert showed up after more feedback and said he was changing it because he initially thought harassment wouldn't be a problem, but now had clearly become one. It was a problem anyone could see, but no one said anything until then.

The issue is that we still need mods to be able to see the flaggers. The only ones who don't need to see them are the ones who don't have any authority over them.

It doesn't sound like much of a problem, really. As you say, nobody complained about it until Anelaid did, and he did it mostly because of that one guy that had a thing for lunarisaileron comics.

I think it we were better off before, when everyone could see the flagger. One could punish users that might abuse flagging, as well as users that might harass others for flagging.

Considering the old way had people telling flaggers to fuck off for legitimate quality checks and had people following every flagged image with comments like "KING OF FLAGGERS, DO YOU HAVE ENOUGH FLAGS IN STOCK", I am inclined to disagree. If you had mods doling out enough discipline to curb such behavior it might have been different, but that kind of thing continued all the way up to the change.

As I check the list of flagged images daily, even now some people continue to treat flags as some sort of great insult, only they do not have a name to direct their ire at now. I can't see any benefit from giving them the name.

Regardless, this is getting off track, and treading old ground. Point is, the flagging system currently doesn't have the necessary protection against abuse. While simple enough to identify instances of abuse and simply re-approve each image, there's nothing to stop it at the source. And we need mods to be able to see flagger identities for that.

Just FYI, admins can't see who flagged either. At least I can't, maybe albert can.
So for example, all I see for post #1222749 is:

This post was flagged for deletion:

Quality-check (hands & feet, specifically) - 2 days ago

. Approve | Hide from mod queue

At least on the web frontend, he wouldn't be able to see it either as both your Admin ranks are functionally identical.

The only thing we can do is bug him to implement staff-only viewing of flagger information.

Well, this seems to keep falling out of sight. If not even jxh can see flaggers, is it even possible to let only specific ranks see their identities in the current system?

The intent behind my complaint wasn't to make it unavailable for everyone, but just that regular users (who did most of the harassment) wouldn't be able to see it. I figure anyone who is at any of the stages above that aren't going to cause problems for anyone.

It seems absurd that not even admins can't see who is flagging images.

Privileged users sometimes misbehave as well (since all they do is pay $20), so I'd advocate having it as Contributor and up. At the very least, it needs to be visible to Janitors, who actually have power to act on these incidents.
