Pointless Pools

That one is a picture series done by the same artist, so it's probably all right.

Is it actually a series though? It's not like they have visible continuity, nor did the artist number them, nor released them together in a group. It's just that they're all pictures of the same character cosplaying drawn by the same artist. It's not that rare for an artist to drawn mostly a single character doing a single thing.

JMHO, but maybe we should go back and ask "Why do we have pools in the first place?" I think a legitimate and valuable purpose to a pool is to indicate to people "there's more like this."

I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm just trying to say that it seems like we're focusing too much on "the rules must be obeyed" without acknowledging that the rules are a little arbitrary. I've seen pools with less than ten images in them which have no continuity except that some of the unnamed characters in them appear in more than one image. Then we have over sixty images by this artist which clearly share a continuity even if there's no particular order to them. I'm not sure why it's good to have the smaller set in a pool, and bad to have the larger set in a pool, just because the smaller one was released as an artbook and the larger one wasn't.

How would someone know that, though?

Oh I don't know, maybe by clicking on merry_(diameri) and seeing a whole bunch of thumbnails of Ran cosplaying as well as the yakumo_ran and cosplay tags on the related tag list?

Anyway, let's not derail the thread any further. If you have any better arguments about why the pool is worthwhile then you should continue in another thread.
